Black Ops 7 is preparing for its reveal on August 19 during the Opening Night Live showcase, where Activision’s studios will finally show what’s new beyond the teasers. The game is trying to hold its ground in the crowded FPS market, hoping to snag some attention away from Battlefield 6. But what’s in store? Leaks from insider TheGhostofHope have spilled some details that might get you thinking.
Three remastered maps from 2012’s Black Ops II will be available at launch: Raid, Express, and Hijacked. Yeah, those classics are making a comeback. It’s a move that might please fans who have been craving some nostalgia. But wait, there’s more.
The leak also mentions the return of Specialist abilities, a feature last seen in Black Ops 4. If you remember, Specialists gave players distinct abilities tied to characters or classes. Think active camo, grapple hooks, and a few other tricks. TheGhostofHope tweeted about this, saying it’s basically what you’d expect from the Specialists we know.
Hearing there’s stuff like active camo, grapple hook and more. Basically what you’d expect. https://t.co/ABXMoxBNf4

Active camo was already teased during the Xbox Game Showcase in June, so it’s not exactly a surprise. But here’s a kicker: the multiplayer mode, which sounds like a bigger version of the recent “Ground War” modes, reportedly includes a wingsuit and will play out on much larger maps than usual. Yet, TheGhostofHope called this mode “trash“. Ouch. Wonder if that’s just the early impression or if it’ll stick around.
Why bring back Specialist abilities and remastered maps? Maybe Activision is trying to recapture some of that old magic. Or perhaps they’re hoping it’s enough to hold players’ interest. Guess we’ll see once the game drops. Are you pumped for those maps?
For those interested, here’s a quick refresher on what’s leaked so far:
- Three remastered maps from Black Ops II: Raid, Express, Hijacked
- Return of Specialist abilities like active camo and grapple hook
- Large-scale multiplayer mode with wingsuit, similar to Ground War, but reportedly underwhelming
What’s your take? Are these leaks enough to get you hyped, or is it just more of the same? It’s a crowded FPS field out there, and Black Ops 7 will have to do more than just bring back old tricks to stand out. Wow, guess we’ll find out soon enough.
