PUBG Ends Support for PS4 and Xbox One This November

PUBG will stop supporting PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 13th, focusing on current-gen consoles.

If you still play PUBG on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, prepare for a tough change. Publisher Krafton is ending support for these older consoles on November 13th, pushing players to jump to PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S versions. It’s a move that might leave many feeling left out.

Not exactly surprising, but it’s still a bummer. PUBG Studios said this shift is “a necessary step toward aligning PUBG Console with current-gen consoles.” They claim this will provide a more stable gameplay environment and smoother updates. They’re hyping improved framerates and visuals on newer consoles, but honestly, that’s cold comfort if you’re stuck with last-gen hardware and no plans to upgrade anytime soon.

Services for older consoles getting cut off isn’t new in the gaming world. Remember when Marvel Avengers servers shut down after just three years? Or EA announcing Anthem’s servers will go offline early next year? PUBG’s move fits right into that trend. It’s kinda rough, especially for players who’ve stuck around for years.

Krafton’s execs have expressed a desire to turn PUBG into a “platform” like Fortnite. Maybe that’s the direction they’re heading with current-gen versions, but it’s hard not to feel like this is another slap to the face for console players still on PS4 and Xbox One.

Honestly, if you want to keep playing PUBG without hassle, PC might be the safer bet these days. The whole situation feels like a reminder that older consoles are slowly being left behind, and not everyone’s happy about it.
