Minecraft Preview Update 1.21.110.23 Brings New Copper Items and Bug Fixes

Minecraft Preview version 1.21.110.23 adds copper decorations and fixes various gameplay issues.

Minecraft Preview just received an update, version 1.21.110.23. It adds several new copper-themed items and addresses a variety of bugs. While the main Minecraft got a big update recently, this preview build is focused on polishing and expanding gameplay elements.

New copper decorations include a Copper Torch, a green torch variant crafted with copper nuggets, coal, and sticks that works just like a regular torch. There are also Copper Bars and Copper Chains that behave like their iron counterparts but oxidize over time, changing appearance. The Copper Lantern is another addition, crafted similarly to the usual lantern but using copper and a copper torch; it too oxidizes and looks different as it ages.

Several fixes were made to copper chests and the Copper Golem. For example, copper chests no longer play default sounds when you walk or jump on them, and the copper golem’s pose updates correctly in multiplayer and split screen. The golem now only counts reachable blocks for pathfinding and fits through doors properly thanks to a smaller collision box. Some odd bugs like the golem cloning items or placing two statues when turning into a statue were fixed as well.

Other changes include improvements to blocks like slabs and shelves, with the shelf comparator signal now working from all orientations and items sitting properly on shelves. Lightning rods now flash white when struck by lightning and all emit redstone signals regardless of oxidation state. Foxes will treat honey bottles as food and prioritize picking them up. Wolf armor visuals now appear immediately when equipped instead of only after damage.

On the user interface side, the /hud command better hides touch controls and progress bars, including horse and camel bars. Action bar messages have a text shadow for readability. Accessibility received a boost with text-to-speech support added to all dressing room pages.

Wow, that’s quite a bit of copper content! Guess Mojang is really leaning into the metal’s aging effects to add some atmosphere. Curious if players will start building entire copper-themed bases just to watch the oxidation process unfold.

Here’s the full list of patch notes:
