Battlefield 6 Producer Calls Bad Company 2 a ‘Huge Inspiration’ for the New Shooter

Battlefield 6's dev highlights Bad Company 2's influence, raising hype for the upcoming beta.

If you’ve been following Battlefield 6 news, you know the hype train is real. The game’s multiplayer producer, Jeremy Chubb, recently opened up about how Bad Company 2, that 2010 classic, has been a major influence on the upcoming shooter. And honestly, that’s a pretty big deal for fans still pining for that sweet spot in the series.

Even in a franchise with as many entries as Battlefield, some games just stand out like monoliths. Everyone remembers the excite of Bad Company 2, the destruction, the feel, the chaos. It’s the kind of game that sets the bar, kinda like how current Warfare 2 did for Call of Duty or Halo 3 for Halo. So, hearing DICE say they’re channeling those vibes for Battlefield 6 is a nice throwback.

Chubb told PC Gamer that Bad Company 2 is where you find excellence in Battlefield’s legacy, especially when it comes to destruction. He described the destruction in that game as intimate and thorough, almost like the game’s identity was wrapped up in how the world could crumble around you. Sounds like they want to bring that feeling back, which is kinda reassuring after Battlefield 2042’s destruction didn’t quite hit the mark.

GamesRadar+’s Joel Franey spent four hours with Battlefield 6 recently and mentioned it was easy to forget destruction is even a core feature. Instead, the game’s destruction is described as “tactical destruction,” which sounds like a more controlled approach than the chaotic demolition we might expect. Franey also said it feels more like Battlefield 3 and 4, which is good news for those who preferred those entries.

So, will Battlefield 6 live up to the Bad Company 2 legacy? That’s the million-dollar question. The beta is kicking off later this week, and I already want to see if DICE can deliver on those promises. Maybe they’re playing it safe with destruction, or maybe there’s a method to the madness. Either way, there’s plenty to talk about once the beta hits.

What do you think? Can Battlefield 6 recapture that Bad Company 2 magic, or is it just wishful thinking? Speak yourself in the comments below, I’m looking to read your take!
