Darksiders 4, the freshly announced sequel for PS5, will include both online and split-screen co-op modes, a detail that flew under the radar during the initial reveal.
Product listings have revealed that the game will allow online co-op for up to four players, with a minimum of two, while local split-screen co-op will support two players. Of course, single-player mode will remain an option for those who prefer going solo.
It’s kinda strange that the official website hasn’t mentioned co-op yet, considering it’s a big selling point for many fans. Maybe they’re saving the full reveal for later, or it just slipped through the cracks. Either way, co-op in a Darksiders game is a welcome surprise.
If you caught the Darksiders 4 reveal, the four-player co-op makes sense. Players will take on the roles of the Four Horsemen, each bringing distinct weapons and playstyles to the table. But how the gameplay adjusts based on the number of players is still a mystery.
The game promises a classic Darksiders experience, third-person action-adventure with combat, puzzles, and traversal. So, online or couch co-op could add a fresh dynamic to the formula. Will the game feel just as good with four players as it does solo? That’s the million-dollar question.
Also worth noting: this isn’t Darksiders’ first time dabbling in co-op. The 2019 top-down spinoff Darksiders Genesis featured two-player co-op with War and Strife, so Gunfire Games isn’t new to this territory.
