World of Warcraft fans have been talking about Ethereals possibly becoming an Allied Race for ages, and now the 11.2 PTR is tossing fuel on that fire. An enchanting recipe called Gleeful Glamour – Ethereal lets players disguise themselves as Ethereals, which is kinda suspicious since all other Gleeful Glamours correspond to playable races.
Spotted by Reddit user phatman2077, this enchantment isn’t just a random cosmetic. Its timing lines up with week 8 of the Manaforge: Omega raid Renown, which should coincide with patch 11.2.5’s launch. That .5 patch timing fits the usual pattern for adding Allied Races, often accompanied by some quest content. Maybe that’s what Blizzard’s preparing for?
The 11.2 patch storyline revolves heavily around Ethereals and their homeworld, which makes this even more interesting. We’ll learn about their World Soul and see Xal’atath involved, and anyone who’s followed the lore knows that rarely ends well. Dimensius is the final boss of the Manaforge: Omega raid, but it’s unclear if we defeat him or if something worse happens. The potential Allied Race questline could connect directly to this, maybe showing Ethereals losing K’aresh and relocating to Azeroth.
So, are Ethereals coming in this patch cycle? Will the Gleeful Glamour enchantment drop before they become playable, or is it just Blizzard’s way of teasing us with perfect timing? And seriously, why has it taken this long for them to get a shot as an Allied Race? They have one of the most compelling stories out there.
