Baldur’s Gate 3 has received another hotfix, this time numbered 33, which addresses a mix of quirky and practical issues players have been facing. From character portraits that looked more like your granddad struggling on Facetime to the Dark Urge spilling secrets they shouldn’t know yet, this patch aims to tidy up some of those oddities.
It feels like Larian Studios just can’t stop tinkering with their creation, and honestly, I don’t mind. These small fixes might seem minor, but they keep the game feeling fresh and polished. The developers even called this update a “room temperature fix,” which made me smile because it’s exactly that kind of modest patch that quietly improves the experience without fanfare.
One of the standout fixes is for the Dark Urge character. This amnesiac was accidentally dropping hints about their past in overhead dialogue, mentioning things like their “father” or “back home,” which players aren’t supposed to know yet. Larian told the Dark Urge to zip it, so no more spoilers from that angle. I wonder how many players were confused or annoyed by those premature reveals?
And then there’s the infamous portrait glitch. You know the one, where party members’ portraits get all misaligned and look downright silly. It’s been a recurring headache for a while, and though Larian’s fixed it before, this hotfix might finally put that issue to bed. They’re cautiously optimistic, saying “probably this time really maybe,” which is kinda charming. Fingers crossed!
Other fixes include a slew of crash repairs, UI tweaks, and improvements to multiplayer invites, especially for cross-play users. Plus, the EULA was updated to explain fan content sharing, which is always nice to see laid out clearly.
