Today, Summoners War launched its v8.8.0 update on Steam, introducing a TEKKEN 8 collaboration that adds new characters and several fresh events. This update is important for players wanting to experience new content and summon limited-time collab monsters.
Before the update starts, it’s a good idea to safely exit the game to avoid sudden crashes, especially if you’re logged in when the update begins. The update will happen at different times depending on your server region, with the global server updating at 8:45 AM PDT.
TEKKEN 8 Collaboration Details
The collaboration runs from the update on July 30 until October 1, 7:59 AM PDT. Players can look forward to summoning five iconic TEKKEN characters: Jin Kazama, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Heihachi Mishima. These characters come in their awakened forms and can be summoned via special summoning methods introduced in this update.
One thing to note: these collab characters cannot be used in the SWC2025 Regional Preliminaries and China Qualifier but will be available for the World Arena after the update. They will become eligible for SWC2025 starting with the Europe Cup on September 20 PDT.
New Collab Event Building: Fight Lounge
Access exclusive collab content through the new Fight Lounge on Sky Island’s right side or via the collab icon. Here’s what you’ll find:
- Collab Pass: Earn experience by completing missions and unlock rewards as you progress. There’s an option to buy a Collab Pass product that doubles rewards and guarantees runes with prefix properties.
- Collab Missions: Three daily missions reset at midnight and five weekly missions reset every Monday. Completing these earns Tekken Coins and other rewards.
- Arcade Battle: A 7-round 5v5 battle with Normal, Hard, and Hell difficulties. Round 7 is a boss stage with rewards increasing by difficulty.
- Minigame: The first minigame, Wall Break Lv. 1, runs from July 30 to August 10. You’ll punch and kick through walls while collecting masks for rewards. Higher levels and more minigames will be added in future updates.
- Collab Gift Box: Claim gift box rewards every 72 hours during the event.
Additional Collab Features
- Arena Rival Battle: Face Master X daily, who uses a team of collab characters. You can also try out collab characters in a trial mode with fully leveled and equipped monsters.
- Special Summon: Summon collab characters with a slightly higher rate than usual, excluding certain special scrolls. Normal summons also have a fixed chance to get these characters.
- New Emojis: Use five new TEKKEN collab emojis in chat and World Arena battles, given as event rewards.
- Battle Training Ground: Install from the shop to access mock battles featuring TEKKEN collab characters (available from Summoner Level 12).
- World Arena and Siege Battle Support: Collab monsters appear as support monsters in World Arena Season 34 and Siege Battle Season 19.
- Shop Special Packs: Tekken Collab Special Products will be available until October 1, 7:59 AM PDT.
Game Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the Endure effect of (Fire) Hell Lady’s Soul Crusher incorrectly increased two stacks for (Water, Light) Lightning Emperor’s passive skill.
- Fixed (Fire) Neostone Fighter’s passive skill triggering incorrectly under some conditions when hit by attacks that cannot be countered.
- Fixed certain passive skills that should only activate during the monster’s turn triggering incorrectly during co-op attacks, affecting (Dark) Ezio and (Dark) Steel Commander.
It’s a pretty packed update, isn’t it? Adding new characters, fresh game modes, and even minigames gives players plenty to try out. Plus, those collab characters bring a nice change of pace for battles, though you’ll have to wait a bit before they’re allowed in SWC2025 matches.
What do you think of this TEKKEN crossover? Will you be summoning Jin or Heihachi first? I’m Margarita, I love you all, and have a great day! Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with the update in the comments below.
