Another patch is hitting Smite 2, and it’s all about fixing annoying bugs and tweaking some balance bits that players have been talking about. The OB15 July 29 Hotfix 2 targets issues with abilities and item interactions, plus adjusts a few cooldowns and healing effects.
First, some bug fixes that should clear up frustrating gameplay moments. For example, Hou Yi’s Mark of the Golden Crow (2) now works properly when Intelligence is higher than Strength, it won’t deal bonus damage but will apply its stun and slow effects correctly. Also, controller users will be glad that the Item Store now focuses on the inventory like it’s supposed to. Finally.
Cupid’s Share the Love (2) mana heal has been fixed, so no more wasted mana recovery. Plus, Aspects in the God Select Lobby will update properly after rerolling in Assault mode, and the damage recap screen will correctly show damage from Sanguine Lash. These are all solid quality-of-life fixes that should make gameplay smoother.
Balance Changes
- Sanguine Lash: Health damage got cut from 2% down to 1%. It now deals half damage to Jungle Bosses, cooldown reduction dropped from 5s to 3s, but the overall cooldown increased from 90s to 100s. That’s a bit of a mixed bag — nerfing damage but tweaking cooldowns in opposite directions.
- Chaac’s Aspect of Fulmination, specifically Torrent (2), can now only gain 2 stacks of Torrent’s Protections instead of 4. That’s a pretty big hit to his defensive stacking.
- Hercules’ Mitigate Wounds (3) got nerfed in healing and protections from items. Healing dropped across levels from 35% max down to 30%, and protections from items decreased from 30% to 25%. Ouch, that’s going to hurt his sustain in fights.
- Guan Yu’s Conviction (1) now only heals allies for 75% of the healing amount, which cuts down his support potential a fair bit.
So, what do you think? Some of these changes feel kinda harsh, especially for Hercules and Guan Yu. Maybe that’s what they were going for, but it’s gonna disrupt some team comps for sure.
