Peak has a fresh beta patch, v0.10.c, now available for players willing to try it out on the Beta branch. This update is mostly about fixing bugs and adding Polish and Turkish translations, which should help more players enjoy the game comfortably. Developers have also addressed some annoying issues, such as fall damage and performance hiccups, in the Peak area.
Joining the beta requires opting in via the official Peak Discord. Keep in mind, beta versions can be unstable, but your feedback helps the developers iron out problems before the update hits the main release.
Patch Notes
FEATURES:
- No new gameplay features this time. The devs are letting things simmer.
OPTIONS:
- Polish and Turkish translations are now included.
- New setting: “Climbing Extra Field Of View” lets you adjust how your FOV changes while climbing.
- New “Push To Mute” option, which works opposite to “Push To Talk”. This means you can mute yourself temporarily, handy if your streamer friend won’t stop chatting.
- Settings previously hidden outside the Main Menu now appear but are disabled to reduce confusion.
BALANCE CHANGES:
- Fixed a bug where Trail Mix, Granola Bar, and Airline Food didn’t provide extra hunger reduction after cooking.
- Cooking items Well-Done now correctly gives the same buffs as Cooked items, instead of losing them when stashed.
- Remedy Fungus now cures poison as well, which makes sense, right?
MAJOR FIXES:
- A temporary fix for the fall damage bug where short falls caused too much damage, often triggered by spamming climb and lunge buttons. The devs admit it’s a band-aid since their teams are in different time zones, so more improvements may come.
- The Napberry Plant is temporarily disabled because it was causing lag and crashes. It’s a quirky plant, apparently, so it’s off the map until a better solution is found.
- Performance at the Peak area is much better now, with wildflowers being the culprit behind previous slowdowns.
- Fixed an issue where items could get stuck in the “Hands” slot if swapped too fast. A small delay was added after swapping to prevent this.
MINOR FIXES:
- Pausing and unpausing in Offline Play no longer causes you to fall off vines.
- You can’t get the Bookworm Badge by only reading the final page without the others.
- Fixed inconsistent stat tracking for the Bookworm Badge when reading guidebook pages out of order.
- Removed an un-spatialized sound effect that played when players landed from a fall.
- Ticks no longer count as berries toward the Foraging Badge, which was pretty funny.
- Fixed incorrect Cooked amount display for items in the temporary slot.
- Eating a Scorchberry now properly counts toward the Forager Badge.
- Getting an Anti-Rope Cannon now grants the Esoterica Badge correctly.
- You can’t earn progress achievements like the Beachcomber Badge while a ghost. Achievements are granted only when alive.
So, this patch mostly irons out some quirks and bugs that could frustrate players, especially around cooking, achievements, and fall damage. I wonder how many people were caught off guard by the fall damage bug? What do you think about the Push To Mute option? I find it kinda useful, especially in multiplayer chaos where chat can get overwhelming.
