Summoners War is about to get a serious dose of fighting game flair with its upcoming collaboration featuring TEKKEN 8. Launching on July 30, 2025, this crossover brings iconic TEKKEN characters into the Summoners War universe, promising fresh content and new gameplay twists that fans might not expect.
TEKKEN has been a staple in the fighting game world since 1994, and its latest installment, TEKKEN 8, released in 2024, has been praised for its visuals and battle system. Now, five of its key fighters, Jin Kazama, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and Heihachi Mishima, will be reimagined in Summoners War’s style, each keeping their distinct combat identities alive.
All five will appear in their Awakened forms, with Heihachi Mishima standing out as a Nat 5 Fire Attribute character obtainable through a special event. Players can summon these characters during the collab period via various summon methods, and after the event, they’ll only be available through Tekken Scrolls.
Wondering how their fighting styles translate? Hwoarang’s rapid kicks become multi-hit skills, and each character gets voiceovers during skill activation, adding some serious atmosphere to battles. You’re definitely going to want to play with sound on.
New Collab Content Highlights
- Fight Lounge: A dedicated event building for easy access to all collab content, accessible from the Sky Island screen.
- Arcade Battle Dungeon: A fresh 5v5 event dungeon where your party fights through seven rounds per difficulty (Normal, Hard, Hell), growing stronger with upgrades after each win. Battles are single-round, fast-paced, and feature bosses like Kazuya Mishima. You can even restart from Round 1 with upgrades intact if things get tough.
- Minigames: Inspired by Com2uS’ Super Action Hero 2, three minigames will roll out gradually, starting with Wall Break on launch day, followed by Vengeance is Mine in early August, and Jump Jump in late August. These test reflexes and timing, and feature a Mask system that changes character appearance and grants abilities. Collecting masks unlocks rewards and a “Giant Mode” transformation.
- Collab Exclusive Content: Tekken characters will appear as bosses in the Trial of Ascension every 10 floors starting August 14, and the mysterious Master X returns as an Arena rival. Limited-time emojis and upgraded collab missions will also be available.
Arcade Battle Details
Arcade Battle feels like a classic fighting game character select screen, but for your Summoners War monsters. You need at least one Tekken Collab Character on your team, but if you don’t have one, the game provides four collab characters to choose from for support. Each difficulty has seven rounds, culminating in a boss fight. Win battles to pick upgrades, either stat boosts or special effects distinct to certain monsters and rounds. The special upgrades let you stack buffs and try new playstyles, which sounds kinda cool, right?
Boss fights are no joke. Take Kazuya Mishima on Normal difficulty, for example. He’s designed to punish openings with counterattacks and can remove your beneficial effects, so you’ll want monsters that keep those buffs going, like Sadiel and Zeryah, the Wind Twin Angels.
Minigames
Wall Break kicks off the minigame series where you smash walls under a time limit using directional and attack controls. It sounds simple, but gets trickier as walls come faster and in complex patterns. Then, Vengeance is Mine challenges you to take down enemies quickly with timing and combos, even knocking foes off ledges. Jump Jump will test your platforming skills as you leap upward on moving and disappearing platforms.
The Mask system adds a neat layer of customization and strategy. Masks not only change how your character looks but also grant special abilities and can trigger “Transformation Mode” for a temporary power-up. Collecting masks unlocks rewards and increases your Giant Mode activation rate.
Collab Period & How to Join
This collaboration will run from July 30 to October 1, 2025 PDT. The update bringing all this content is version 8.8.0. If you want to grab the Tekken characters, you can summon them through regular Nat 4 and Nat 5 scrolls during the event, but after that, only Tekken Scrolls will work.
Additionally, a pre-registration event is currently live, offering some rewards, so it’s worth checking out before the update is released. Lots to look forward to, and honestly, the mix of fighting game energy with Summoners War’s style might just be a fun twist we didn’t see coming. Will you be trying to collect all the masks or tackling the Arcade Battle dungeon first?
