Elden Ring Nightreign fans who have been waiting to team up in pairs can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The game is going to get a proper duo mode called Duo Expeditions, launching on July 30, 2025, as part of Patch 1.02. This update is a direct answer to the community’s loud calls for a balanced two-player experience.
When Nightreign launched on May 30, 2025, it only supported solo play or groups of three, which made things awkward for players who prefer teaming up with just one friend. You could queue as a duo, but the game wasn’t tuned for that setup, often making runs feel off. Now, FromSoftware is fixing that by designing a co-op mode specifically for pairs.
Duo Expeditions: What to Expect
In addition to the duo mode, the update will introduce a new relic filtering system. This will help players manage their loadouts more smoothly during expeditions, which sounds like a win for anyone who’s ever been lost in their inventory mid-run.
This patch marks the second major update since Nightreign’s launch. An earlier patch improved the Wending Grace system, allowing players to carry multiple revive items and ensuring that all merchants stock these essentials. FromSoftware hasn’t said much about new content or expansions yet, but keeps the game balanced with regular updates.
So, if you’ve been wanting to tackle Night’s horrors with just one buddy, remember on July 30, 2025. Duo Expeditions will be available across all platforms then.

What do you think? Are you gonna jump into duo mode right away, or still prefer the solo grind? I have to say, I’m pretty curious to see how the gameplay will feel tuned for two players instead of three. It might change the whole vibe of the expeditions!
