Call of Duty Climbs to Third Place in North American Esports Betting

Call of Duty doubles its global esports betting share, ranking third in North America.

Call of Duty has been around for ages, yet it often feels like it’s playing catch-up in the esports world. But guess what? New numbers show it’s actually making a pretty solid move in esports betting, especially in North America.

According to fresh data from Abios and Kambi, compiled by Sharpr in their Global Esports Betting Monitor, Call of Duty’s share of the total esports betting handle worldwide jumped from 1.7% last year to 2.9% in the first half of 2025. That’s nearly doubled! And in North America? It’s now the third most popular esports game to bet on.

To put it in perspective, 12.2% of all esports betting in North America during the first half of 2025 was on Call of Duty, just edging past VALORANT’s 11.5%. Meanwhile, League of Legends dominates with a massive 42.3% of the betting handle.

Why is Call of Duty doing so well here? Sharpr’s analysis points to a couple of reasons:

  • North America is the hotspot: Call of Duty’s presence in esports betting is primarily a North American phenomenon, with a share of under 3% elsewhere.
  • City-based teams make a difference: The Call of Duty League’s regional team setup, exclusively in the US and Canada, gives it a unique edge over global giants like CS2 or League.
