Usually, sequels tend to be bigger, but Ghost of Yotei might be sticking close to the original’s formula in terms of length. Sucker Punch’s follow-up to the well-loved Ghost of Tsushima has sparked conversations around its game length. Sequels often balloon in size, but creative director Jason Connell reassured players that the new game won’t stray too far from what fans enjoyed before.
Ghost of Tsushima & Ghost of Yotei Have “Similar Numbers”
Connell spoke with Games Radar about the game’s scale. He mentioned, “We designed the game with some of the similar numbers, in terms of scale and scope of the last experience, in mind. In that way, we actually found it to be quite satisfying, and there were some good numbers to jump off of.”
For some context, How Long To Beat estimates Ghost of Tsushima‘s main story takes about 25 hours, extending to 46 hours if you include side quests, and over 60 hours to fully complete everything.
Connell added that whether you’re rushing through the story, exploring every corner of the world, or chasing that platinum trophy, Ghost of Yotei should feel similar in terms of time commitment.
Honestly, I can’t believe they’re not pushing for a longer game, but maybe that’s a good call. The balance of main and side content in the original was pretty satisfying. You’ll probably love this if you enjoyed the freedom and pace of Ghost of Tsushima.
