EA has rolled out microtransactions in the latest alpha version of Skate. This addition comes alongside a message from the developers that hints at exciting gameplay updates. As players jump into this closed alpha, they will now have the option to purchase items using a new virtual currency.
The in-game currency, dubbed San Van Bucks, allows players to acquire various cosmetic items. According to a communication from developer Full Circle, this feature aims to create a positive purchasing experience within the skate store. The team expressed their commitment to gathering player feedback during this testing phase, crucial for refining the experience before the Early Access launch.
The message shared with players reads: “To achieve these goals at Early Access, we have enabled the option to purchase and use virtual currency (San Van Bucks) in our ongoing Closed Alpha playtest. Your feedback will be greatly appreciated in providing a great experience at Early Access launch.”
As with any alpha test, players should know that account progress may reset periodically. Before transitioning into Early Access, all progress will reset completely. EA Skate is slated for release sometime in 2025 and will be available as a free-to-play title on PC and console platforms. A mobile version is also planned, broadening its reach even further.
