Big news from Moon Studios, the creative minds behind the beloved Ori series! The studio has officially declared itself “fully independent” after securing the publishing rights to their upcoming title, No Rest for the Wicked, from Take-Two Interactive. This change opens up a world of possibilities for the developers as they continue to craft their vision without any constraints.
No Rest for the Wicked, first revealed in December 2023, made its debut in Steam Early Access in April 2024. Initially published by Private Division, a label under Take-Two that focuses on smaller developers, this game has been highly anticipated since its announcement. Interestingly, when Take-Two sold Private Division in November 2024, they kept hold of No Rest for the Wicked to continue supporting it. But now, Moon Studios is taking full control!
The studio shared its excitement with fans: “We have secured the publishing rights for No Rest for the Wicked, allowing us to execute our vision without restrictions.” During one of their presentations, “Wicked Inside,” they also teased a major update named The Breach, set to launch on April 30. This update promises to be… well, at least as much as an update can be!
The Breach will expand upon the campaign with new areas, armor, factions, enemies, and weapons. Plus, it aims to deepen the lore and double the game world’s size! That’s right, double! After this update, Moon Studios plans to work on another major update that will introduce co-op gameplay for up to four players. And if you’re a music fan in games (who isn’t?), you’ll be thrilled to know that returning composer Gareth Coker will provide new tunes!
