Rainbow Six Siege Y10S1 Update: Operation Prep Phase Unveiled

Ubisoft once again captured the spotlight at the Six Invitational, one of esports’ most celebrated tournaments. This year marks a special milestone as Rainbow Six Siege celebrates its tenth anniversary, and fans can expect some thrilling developments ahead.

As the grand final approached, the atmosphere in Boston was electric. Ubisoft unveiled an impressive trailer with fans and players excitedly buzzed. Let’s look at what the Rainbow Six Siege Y10S1 update has in store.

Getting Better

During the reveal, Joshua Mills, one of the game directors at Ubisoft, shared an emotional moment on stage as he presented the trailer. It showcased beloved characters and offered a nostalgic glance back at the history of the Rainbow organization.

Mills and creative director Alex Karpazis highlighted improvements to anti-cheat measures. Their collaboration with Battleye has been particularly fruitful; just last January, over 19,000 cheaters were banned from R6S in a single month. They also reported an impressive -40% drop in matches affected by cheating since Y9S2 rolled out.

New Operator

The upcoming season introduces a new operator hailing from New Zealand’s SAS named Rauora. She utilizes a lightweight cover deployment system capable of swiftly blocking doorways, a handy tool for disrupting defensive strategies. Her gadget is called the ‘D.O.M.’ launcher (Deployable Omnilink Mesh), which allows her to open and close doors rapidly. Players can look forward to trying out Rauora on test servers next week.

Mills and Karpazis hinted at an unprecedented evolution coming to Rainbow Six Siege this year. The name “Operation Prep Phase” suggests it’s laying, the  groundwork for something monumental on the horizon. The reveal included a sneak peek at ‘Siege X’, a concept that promises dramatic changes while emphasizing that it is not intended as a sequel or new iteration of Rainbow Six Siege.

Karpazis expressed: “This will be the beginning of a new era for Rainbow Six Siege, one that sets the stage for the next ten years of unique tactical gameplay.”

A comprehensive reveal is scheduled for March 13 in Atlanta, and fans are invited to participate actively in uncovering more details about this exciting future.
