The developers of Pokemon GO have announced that support for 32-bit Android devices will be discontinued starting in 2025. This change is part of a strategy to focus on newer technologies and operating systems.
According to a recent blog post, the decision aims to streamline development efforts. After the update, only players using 64-bit devices or iOS systems will continue to access the game without interruption.
Starting March 2025, those who downloaded Pokemon GO from the Samsung Galaxy Store will lose access, while support for Google Play Store downloads will end in June 2025. Players affected by this change should log into their accounts on new 64-bit devices with their existing credentials to retain their progress and items.
Affected models include:
- Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, Note 3, J3
- Sony Xperia Z2, Z3
- Motorola Moto G (1st generation)
- LG Fortune, Tribute
- OnePlus One
- HTC One (M8)
- ZTE Overture 3
- Certain Android devices released before 2015
Trainers using affected devices will no longer be able to access their Pokémon GO accounts (including their PokéCoins and items) from those devices once the update is live. If you are using a 32-bit Android device, you will need a compatible 64-bit Android device or iOS device to continue playing Pokémon GO. Before you upgrade, make sure to save your account’s log-in information somewhere so you can log back in on your new device!
