So, did you think the battle in VALORANT was intense before? Riot is cranking things up a notch for the 2025 season! With some spicy new agents on the way and an overhaul to how we rank our skills, what will happen only god knows…
Apparently, Riot Games is stepping away from episodic chaos and diving into a yearly season model that promises new toys to play with and a commitment to improving the overall gameplay experience. Their mission? To get VALORANT “in its best shape ever,” as they put it in their latest dev diary.
If one thing keeps players returning to VALORANT, it’s the diverse cast of agents. And guess what? They’re getting even more attention this time around! The team hinted at balancing some heavy hitters and underdogs alike. For instance, after his recent buff to the Double Tap shield in Patch 8.11, Iso is set for further adjustments to redistribute his power budget.
The team seems hesitant about making any drastic changes to Neon right now. They plan on giving her another look if needed after her big nerfs from Patch 9.11. Meanwhile, Deadlock and Harbor are on the improvement list, too; Deadlock will see her Sound Sensors becoming more valuable, while Harbor will get some love to make him more enjoyable.
This season is also about where you shoot! With six acts planned for 2025, Riot has promised to switch up the map pool regularly. Each act will introduce two new maps while swapping out two others, a refreshing shake-up that many players crave!
The competitive mode is also getting some much-needed TLC. Now, players will receive a “rank shield,” protecting them from immediate drops between skill divisions. Think of it like having an extra life when you’re teetering on defeat. Plus, if someone cheats their way through your matches and gets banned? You’ll get your rank rating refunded, and you will no longer feel robbed!
