Amy Hennig just revealed some exciting details and concept art for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, and I can barely contain my excitement! It feels like we’re getting a sneak peek into a superhero movie, but this time, we get to jump right into the action ourselves!
Amy Hennig has shown off new concept art from Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and discussed new details about the forthcoming game. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was revealed during an Unreal Engine showcase at GDC in March and stars Drew Moerlein as Captain America and Khary Payton as Black Panther, with a release set for some time in 2025.
“It led us to do a bunch of interesting things,” Amy Hennig told Entertainment Weekly, “one of which was to not only tell a story with a young Steve Rogers who’s still trying to find his feet, as opposed to the more seasoned guy that we’ve seen in a lot of the films. It also let us introduce a new Black Panther of 1943.”
The development team. Skydance Games is led by Amy Hennig, the director of the first three Uncharted games.
“It led us to tap into all the things that I love, all of the wonderful tropes of World War II-era adventure films, classic men-on-a-mission movies and all of that,” Hennig continued. “There’s a lot of intrigue in our story, a lot of twists and turns, fascinating characters, and interesting locations.”
Hennig also debuted new concept art from the game, showing a glimpse at the jungles of Wakanda in Marvel 1943.
“Wakanda at this point in time is hidden away from the outside world and protected by this impenetrable jungle,” she explains. “They are non-interventionist but events transpire that pull them into the conflict. They have to protect their interests. The world is getting smaller. No satellites yet but there will be soon. You can shoot down planes that maybe want to fly over Wakanda but how long can you stay in the shadows?”
Earlier this year it was announced that the game will be published by Plaion.
This game sounds like it’s going to pack so much action! Seriously, who wouldn’t want to dive back into World War II with iconic heroes like Captain America and Black Panther? It makes me think about those awkward high school years when you’re still figuring out who you are, super relatable! I can’t wait to see more updates roll out before its release! What do you guys think? Are you ready for another epic journey through Marvel’s history?
