Turn10 Studios has just revealed Forza Motorsport is getting support for Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), and it’s hitting PCs on December 9th! This is a game-changer for the graphics in Forza-say hello to stunning visuals that are about to elevate your racing experience!
With this update, dubbed Update 15, PC gamers can finally enable RTGI. But heads up, this feature looks like it’s exclusive to PCs. So, if you’re rocking an Xbox console, you might miss out on this visual treat.
Now, let’s break down what RTGI does. It applies ray tracing hardware to create more accurate real-time indirect lighting across tracks and cars. The result? A level of realism and visual fidelity could make you feel like you’re behind the wheel!
You’ll want at least an NVIDIA RTX 3080 to take advantage of these high settings. But if you’re aiming for the crème de la crème experience? Bring out the big guns with an RTX 4090.
The devs also shared some eye-popping comparison screenshots, one glance at those side-by-sides and you’ll see why RTGI is such a big deal! As someone who loves racing games, I can’t help but think that RTGI trumps reflections any day in importance.
Ironically enough, some clever folks have been enabling RTGI unofficially since July 2024, but we all know how risky that can be, with potential visual bugs lurking around every corner!
So what’s next? I’m itching to benchmark this update when it drops! Life’s been busy lately with so many excellent titles vying for my attention, but I’ll do my best to get back into Forza once this hits.
