It’s not a secret that the next wipe is set for August 2024, but since I have been covering Tarkov since 2017, I wanted to entrench myself in this subject. The previous TarkovTV Podcast revealed some surprises, including the full roadmap, alongside its contents and features scheduled for arrival with the next wipe. Thanks to it, we have a lot to talk about.
The wipe is supposed to bring Patch 0.15, which is going to introduce new content, quality-of-life improvements, technical upgrades, and more. From a new bipod mechanic to Factory getting a huge rework, those things solely are quite chatty, and what about the rest? I honestly don’t know where to start, so let’s shoot it.
There will be a new trader named Ref, who will be accessible in both the Arena and the main game. Ref will use GPT coins as the main currency. Players will be able to earn GPT coins in both Arena and the normal game, which means there will be more ways to trade and gear up. Keys to valuable rooms will also be available in EFT Arena, which is definitely something players might be looking forward to.
So far, prior to the wipe, Battlestate Games has already added the Arena Integration with the original game and the ability to queue on servers locally, which in fact has allowed some dishonest players to tinker with the game’s files and do whatever they want on the local servers.
What else to expect?
There is supposed to be a Unity 2022 update that will boost game performance by far. There’s not much to say about this other than, “We’ve been waiting for this change for a long time.”
There will be a new questline called Nostalgia, and will allow players to unlock all the rewards from the Unheard edition, permanently. Furthermore, there will be rewards for those who rightfully landed a report against a person cheating, which are probably going to arrive through the in-game mail system.
A new boss, Partisan, who was revealed by Battlestate Games a couple of days ago, will target players with bad karma. Yes, karma is finally coming to PMCs, and it will change how we play. Campers, beware.
Sometimes, players are being tricked by the Audio in Tarkov, which honestly, it’s the worst thing that anyone could experience. With that said, BSG said that the audio improvements that are coming are supposed to make the game much fairer for everyone. We also shouldn’t forget that the developers are working on Patch 1.0, which release should result in finally ditching the Early Access tag. There will be tons of other updates, too, and I actually cannot wait to see what else is going to arrive.
Last but not least, let’s take a look at the roadmap that was previously revealed, below. According to it, we’re going to get:
- New Content
- QoL Improvements
- Technical Improvements
- New Weapons
- Hideout Expansion
- Audio Optimization
- FPS optimization on all locations.
