Ubisoft has just revealed that Star Wars Outlaws has officially gone gold! That’s right, Massive Entertainment’s latest brainchild is ready to be pressed onto discs and shipped to stores. After their work on The Division and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, they’re now ready to tackle the Star Wars universe.
So, what does it mean for a game to go gold? Essentially, it means development is done and dusted. The game is ready to be mass-produced and sold. Of course, the devs at Massive Entertainment aren’t going to kick back with a cold one just yet. They’ll still be squashing bugs and fine-tuning the experience, but any updates from here on out will likely be in the form of pre-launch or day-one patches.
August 30 is the big day when Star Wars Outlaws will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It’s been a long wait, but it’s almost over. Two expansions are already lined up for the months following the release. Talk about planning ahead!
Julian Gerighty, the creative director, has spilled some beans about the game’s length. If you’re just zooming through the main story, expect about 25-30 hours of gameplay. But if you’re like me and want to see every nook and cranny, a completionist playthrough will set you back around 50-60 hours. That’s a lot of time to spend in a galaxy far, far away, but hey, who’s complaining?
