We’ve been waiting forever for a new Skate game, and while we still don’t have a release date, we’re finally seeing some progress. EA and Full Circle are rebooting the beloved skateboarding franchise with a free-to-play model, and they just dropped a new trailer at Summer Game Fest.
Let’s talk about the trailer for a bit. It’s pre-pre-alpha gameplay, so don’t expect polished graphics or final features, but man, it’s something. We looked at some raw footage after a hilarious skit about the M-Corp. Various skateboarders were shown pulling off tricks and skating up a building. It’s not much, but it’s a welcome sight for those starved for Skate content. Check it out below:
EA has also confirmed that console playtests are happening this fall. You’ll finally get to try the game out on your consoles. Sign-ups are live on the game’s official website, so don’t miss your chance to get in on the action early.
The wait has been extended, and we’re not quite there yet, but at least we’re moving forward. The Skate reboot is on its way, and it’s looks like it’s worth the wait. Watch for more updates, and get ready to hit those playtests this fall.
