Sony kicked off its State of Play with a banger, giving us a first look at Firewalk Studios’ upcoming multiplayer shooter, Concord. This reveal had me hyped, especially when the vignette showcased several badass characters duking it out in Crater City. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out. Check it out below.
Concord is set in the Concord galaxy, and you’ll be stepping into the boots of Freegunners in the Northstar gang. The game pits teams in 5v5 matches, and let me tell you, the characters look sick. Vale is a sniper who’s all about setting trip mines. Haymar is equipped with the ability to blind targets and shoot fiery projectiles with a crossbow. Star Child is a berserker who can soak up damage like a champ. Plus, there are a bunch of Free Agents you can pick from
Firewalk Studios has drawn inspiration from strategy titles and fighting games, which is pretty evident in the gameplay. The characters are asymmetrical, meaning they’ve all got unique abilities that encourage some seriously improvised gameplay. It’s not just about who can rack up the most kills, deployables like walls and revives add a layer of strategy, making teamwork crucial.
One of the coolest features? Weekly cinematic vignettes that will flesh out the characters and expand the universe. It’s a nice touch that’ll keep the lore nerds among us engaged and wanting more. You can find the trailer below.
