Escape From Tarkov gets new technical update today, April 18

Unlike before, this new Escape From Tarkov update mends the sound in the game, which should result in better gameplay overall. Recently, a video revealed how each headset is overpowered in its own way, and the developer found that quite overpowered. Therefore, Battlestate Games has decided to change things around and lower the sound of footsteps for each headset in the game.

The update lowers the hearing radius by 50% for sounds made while a player is crouched. The update also minimizes the disparity in the maximum hearing radius of footsteps and voices, depending on the headset equipment used in the game. The update also addresses several bugs related to the game’s sound. Notably, it resolves an issue where a high-frequency sound artifact would be triggered by specific actions such as weapon impacts or interactions with environmental objects like bushes.

Another critical fix corrects the problem of weapon operation sounds being audible through thick walls, even without the appropriate sound occlusion effect. Furthermore, the developers have fixed the sound anomaly related to searching containers in the first-person perspective, which previously played incorrectly.
