VR # Avoid is short, but quite a challenging game

VR Avoid is a virtual reality game that demands quick reflexes but also clear thinking. The game belongs in the virtual world and pushes players to be “dodgy”, but also collect some orbs to earn more points. It’s actually what makes it even better.

Players start with a total of 10 health points, with each collision costing them three health points. Avoiding a grid also restores 1 health point, and it will actually let you remain in the game for a longer time.

It can become messy overall, but it does offer some good entertainment, especially if you wanna take a break from some hardcore games and jump in for fast fun. The game is available on Steam, and requires OpenXR or SteamVR to play.

VR # Avoid Details

VR # AVOID is a short but intense game in which you have to physically avoid the ever-accelerating grid for as long as you can. By collecting objects while doing so, you can earn additional points and temporarily decrease the grid speed.

The grid speed increases over time to a certain speed cap while the grid gap decreases to a certain cap (different per difficulty level).

You have a maximum of 10 health.
If you hit a grid with your controller or VR headset, you will lose 3 health for each hit.
If you successfully avoid a grid, you will restore 1 health.

If you collect a small orb you get 10 points.
If you collect a color-changing orb, the grid speed decreases instantly and increases again over time (different per difficulty level), and the color theme will change.

The score system is based on avoided grids, points and current health.

Currently, there are 4 beatable difficulties (grid spawn based) and one endless soft capped mode which is not meant to be beaten (it gets too fast but give it a try, see how far you can get).

  • Different difficulties with own local highscores for a challenge
  • Choose different songs to play with
  • Ability to decrease the saturation for better vision clarity.
  • Optional spectator or stream cameras: first-person better fov and third-person view from behind.

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
