Bandai Namco is ready to introduce a new Battle Pass to Tekken 8, offering various challenges and rewards. This has been revealed in their latest patch details regarding the patch, titled 1.03.01, which will elevate the monetization within the game.
This Battle Pass system will be introduced with the addition of Eddy Gordo, the Capoeira master, joining the game officially on April 4. It will be a new playground with daily challenges, weekly missions, and items. For those who wish to flash a bit more cash, there’s a paid tier with the promise of even more exclusive goodies.
Remember when Harada, the director, came out in defense of monetization? He talked about the skyrocketing costs of game development and the need to keep Tekken 8 on its feet in the long run. It got us thinking about our days huddled over Tekken 3, oblivious to the concept of buying anything beyond the base game. Times have changed, indeed.
As much as we complain about these new microtransactions, they open up a new discussion for us to delve in. It’s going to be exciting to see how this relationship will evolve with every update and new feature added to the mix.
