The upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War is rumored to introduce a fully open-world campaign, marking a significant evolution for the series. Insider Gaming reports that, unlike previous titles, this game’s open-world concept is built from scratch, not relying on assets from past installments.
According to reports, Raven Software is developing a campaign allowing players to explore a vast map similar to the ones in Far Cry games. The game will also feature vehicles and a fast-travel system to help players navigate the terrain easily. Despite its promise of expansive exploration, the game will still have structured, linear missions.
Central to the campaign is the return of CIA agent Russell Adler, a key figure from Black Ops Cold War, suggesting a continuation of story elements from previous games. The shift towards an open-world format is not just for this title but indicates a strategic direction for future Call of Duty games.
I personally believe it will be fun to see this happening for the very first time in the franchise. What are your thoughts about it?
