PlayStation’s 2024 State of Play has revealed a whole bunch of trailers, rivaling Xbox’s Developer Direct from earlier. The approximately 40-minute event showcased various titles and updates.
One of the showcases included the collaboration between Hideo Kojima and Sony, with an extended trailer for Death Stranding 2 and the reveal of a new project titled PHYSINT. This next-generation action espionage game is expected to be a massive addition to Kojima’s portfolio, though its production is slated to start after the 2025 launch of Death Stranding 2.
During the showcase, there was something about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is scheduled to be released in 2025. The preview featured fresh locations, the reappearance of a redesigned villain, and a talking doll that contributed to the game’s eerie atmosphere.
The State of Play presentation highlighted several upcoming game releases and remakes. One of the featured games was Until Dawn, a 2015 horror game that is now being reworked for PC and PS5 and is expected to be released sometime this year.
Metro Exodus is also getting a spinoff for VR called Metro Awakening. It is scheduled to be released on PS VR2 later this year.
Rise of the Ronin, an RPG developed by Team Ninja, which displayed gameplay and will be released on March 22nd for PS5.
Celebrating the 14th anniversary of Sonic Generations, Sega announced a remake with Shadow the Hedgehog in the limelight.
Helldivers 2 also made a return with a new trailer with launch for February 8th on PS5 and PC.
