Nintendo Switch 2 Set for 2024 Launch at $400, Reveals Industry Analyst Dr. Serkan Toto

Dr. Serkan Toto, a renowned industry analyst, reveals pivotal details about Nintendo’s next big launch. According to Toto, the CEO of Kantan Games in Tokyo, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut in 2024 with a price tag of $400.

As per GamesIndustry.biz, Dr. Toto shared his predictions for the gaming industry in 2024, placing a significant spotlight on Nintendo’s upcoming console. Contrary to expectations of a complete overhaul, the Switch 2 is tipped to be an “iteration” of its predecessor, suggesting that Nintendo focuses on refining and enhancing the existing design rather than reinventing it entirely.

Dr. Toto’s insights also reveal a fascinating piece of Nintendo’s developmental history – the existence of a ‘Pro’ model of the Switch. Although this model never reached the public, it signifies Nintendo’s ongoing experiment and console design evolution.

The expected $400 price point for the Switch 2 marks a $100 increase from the original Switch’s launch price. This shift reflects the evolving economics of the gaming industry, where rising development and production costs are becoming the norm. Additionally, there’s speculation that the Switch 2’s game titles might align with the $70 pricing standard, mirroring the trend set by other significant consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

One feature that has defined the Switch’s success is its portability, and Dr. Toto affirms that Nintendo is unlikely to deviate from this winning feature. The blend of handheld and traditional gaming has been a unique selling point for the Switch, catering to a wide range of gamers’ preferences.
