7 Days to Die experimental V2.6 b14 addresses city hitching and controller quick-swap bugs
The March 21, 2026 Experimental update fixed severe hitching in cities, tweaked two serverconfig defaults, and resolved several texture and movement issues.

On March 21, 2026 the 7 Days to Die Steam news post announced a new Experimental build, V2.6 b14. The update targeted a major performance problem causing severe hitches inside cities and also made a handful of configuration and gameplay fixes.
The developer reported they identified the cause of the city hitching and applied a fix in this Experimental release. In addition, the build adjusts two serverconfig.xml defaults and corrects several visual and movement issues, including controller quick-swap behavior.

Overview: The key change in this build is a fix for the severe hitching experienced in city areas. The update also includes two server configuration adjustments and minor fixes for textures, third-person movement interaction with god mode, and controller toolbelt swapping.
Changes
- Updated comment for BiomeProgression property in serverconfig.xml
- Set the default for JarRefund to 60 in serverconfig.xml
Fixes
- Road texture blending on low settings when a new world is first loaded
- Third person character speed was affected by god mode speed modifier when it shouldn’t be
- Improved quick swap slot assignment when scrolling through toolbelt on controller
If the Experimental branch behaves as expected, these fixes will broaden to other branches after further testing.
