The developer of the multiplayer shooter named Splitgate aims to achieve something big in the near future. 1047 Games wants to reach new heights and desires to become a very successful video game development studio. In a recent interview with TechCrunch, the company has stated it intends to replicate the success of Riot Games.
Splitgate is a free-to-play, fast-paced multiplayer shooter that features player-controlled portals. This sci-fi game takes the FPS genre to a new dimension with its portal mechanics bringing in elements from great shooters like Goldeneye64 and Perfect Dark Zero while still feeling fresh by keeping things simple enough for newcomers yet challenging veterans alike! It also reminds me very much of Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, and Halo altogether. Basically said, this is their children.
Splitgate is 1047 Games’ first video game, and it’s generating a lot of steam. The imagery for the company’s future is being created mutually. In the recent interview, the co-founder and CEO of the company, Ian Proulx, stated the following:
Five years ago it was very hit-driven: You spend years developing a product, put all this money into hyping the launch, and then hope it’s a success. Our process was, there’s no way we can take that risk — if we spent our entire budget and got it wrong, we’re out of business. So we thought, let’s do a soft launch, put it out there and see what happens, learn, listen, look at the data. Why would I spend money marketing a product that I have no idea about whether it will be a success? If we wanted to spend money, and we didn’t have a lot, I’d rather spend it on a product that has great metrics and KPIs.
The scope of what we can do is now through the roof. There’s so much we couldn’t think about because we were a tiny team with a tiny budget, but now everything is on the table. We’re focusing on the long term — I look at the game as being 25% done. We don’t need to be Fortnite tomorrow, but now it really is about building the next Riot Games, the next big games business.
At this moment, 10476 Games is still considered an Indie company, but it’s slowly getting to a higher podium. 1047 Games is planning to reach its goals and provide new extensions to gamers across the globe. 1047 does not want to be forgotten, as the company will focus on bringing Splitgate to a 1.0 version, which will be considered a wholly polished candidate. With solid community, dedication, and will, the company is confident in its goals.
