Microsoft has just rolled out the June console update for Xbox, and it’s packed with some sweet new features. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s dropping.
First off, customization is getting a significant boost. Previously, you had to choose between a dynamic background or rotating game art when hovering over a title. But now? You can have both at the same time. That’s right, no more tough choices, have your cake and eat it too.
And if you’re into color coordination, you’re in luck. The update lets you change the color of your dynamic background without messing with your default profile color. It’s all about those personal touches, making your Xbox feel a bit more like home.
But wait, there’s more. The updated Wi-Fi settings mean your console can now remember up to 10 previously used networks. No more re-entering passwords every time you switch locations. Just pick and connect, smooth and simple.
Managing your subscriptions just got easier, too. The update allows you to handle everything directly from your console. There’s no need to hop on a computer or fumble through settings menus.
Now, let’s talk controllers. Xbox wireless controller firmware updates are here. If you’re using the Xbox Adaptive Controller, you’ll now have expanded support for more connected USB accessories. Each port supports up to 12 buttons, a second stick, and a hat switch. This update is all about making gaming more accessible for everyone.
Plus, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 has seen improvements. You’ll notice fewer wireless disconnects when a headset is attached to its 3.5mm audio port. And, of course, there are some bug fixes to smooth out your gaming experience.
PC gamers aren’t left out, either. The Xbox app on PC has new navigation options and mouse and keyboard support for Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available to everyone. It’s all about bringing that console feel to your PC setup.
But that’s not all the news from Xbox. During the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, Microsoft dropped the big one, a digital-only Xbox Series X. This white, discless 1TB beast will hit shelves this holiday season. We’ll also see a white 1TB Xbox Series S and a special edition 2TB ‘Galaxy Black’ Xbox Series X with a disc tray.
