Xbox to Remove Three Ninja Gaiden Games from Game Pass Ahead of Ninja Gaiden 4

Three classic Ninja Gaiden titles leave Xbox Game Pass on September 30, ahead of Ninja Gaiden 4.

Xbox confirmed that three classic Ninja Gaiden entries will leave Xbox Game Pass on September 30, cutting short an easy way to replay them before the next numbered release. That matters because Ninja Gaiden 4 launches on October 21, 2025, and plenty of players will want to run through the older titles first.

It’s been a solid year for the series. Earlier this year, we got the surprise shadow drop of Ninja Gaiden 2: Black, and it landed well with fans. Recently, Team Ninja and collaborators released Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, a faithful side-scrolling throwback that captured the original spirit.

All of those more minor releases feel like appetisers for the main course: Ninja Gaiden 4 is on the horizon and looks promising, so replaying legacy titles before it arrives made a lot of sense for many players. Today, Xbox announced its latest Game Pass additions and also listed which titles are departing the service. As happens with every refresh, new arrivals mean a few will leave the catalog.

In this case, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor’s Edge are all leaving Xbox Game Pass on September 30th. That trio includes fan favorites and will sting for anyone who planned a nostalgia run. On the one hand, Sigma 2’s departure stings less thanks to Ninja Gaiden Black 2 still being available. For the other two, though, there are no easy substitutes on Game Pass right now.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, which bundles all three games, is not listed as leaving Game Pass at the time of writing. There has not been any clarification from Microsoft about whether the collection will remain on the service. Personally, I want the Master Collection to stay. I understand the business logic behind pulling individual entries ahead of a big release, but it still feels like a cheap nudge toward purchases for anyone who just wanted to replay the classics.
