If it weren’t for technology advancement, we wouldn’t be a part of new gaming industry innovations. Luckily, we’re gliding through an era where the next-gen consoles are roughly on our hands. It’s just a matter of time when we’ll experience and compare the beauty they offer. Gamers across the globe will have the opportunity to deem the power of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S and seek entertainment in next-gen, breathtaking video game titles.

But, before we judge Microsoft’s next-gen consoles, we have to look under the hood and decide which one precisely would suit our needs. The price remains irrelevant in this story simply because it’s already known. This story is dedicated purely to the consoles’ power, as Microsoft has discovered the specifications of both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Xbox Series X Specifications

Below you can find the specs of the new and upcoming Xbox Series X consoles, scheduled to launch on November 11.

  • CPU – 8-Core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.8GHz, 3.6GHz w/ SMT Enabled
  • GPU – AMD RDNA 2 GPU, 52 CUs @ 1.825GHz
  • GPU Power – 12.15 TFLOPS
  • System on a Chip – Custom 7nm Enhanced SoC
  • RAM – 16 GB GDDR6 RAM, 10 GB @ 560GB/s, 6 GB @ 336GB/s
  • Performance Target – 4K @ 60 FPS, Up to 120 FPS
  • Storage – 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 NVME SSD, 2.4GB/sec uncompressed, 4.8 GB/sec compressed
  • Extra Storage Capacity – 1 TB Expansion Card
  • Disc Drive – 4K UHD Blu-ray
  • Backward Compatibility – Thousands of video game titles available at launch.
  • Display – HDMI 2.1
  • Availability of Xbox One gaming accessories.

Xbox Series S Specifications

Below you can find the specs of the cheaper next-gen console variant, Xbox Series S, scheduled to launch on November 11.

  • CPU – 8-Core AMD Zen 2 CPU @ 3.6GHz, 3.4GHz w/SMT Enabled
  • GPU – AMD RDNA 2 GPU, 20 CUs @ 1.565GHz
  • GPU Power – 4 TFLOPS
  • System on a Chip – Custom 7nm Enhanced SoC
  • RAM – 10 GB GDDR6 RAM, 8 GB @ 224GB/s, 2 GB @ 56GB/s
  • Performance Target – 1440p @ 60 FPS, Up to 120 FPS
  • Storage – 512 GB PCIe Gen 4 NVME SSD, 2.4GB/sec uncompressed, 4.8 GB/sec compressed
  • Extra Storage Capacity – 1 TB Expansion Card
  • Disc Drive – Digital Only
  • Backward Compatibility – Thousands of video game titles available at launch.
  • Display – HDMI 2.1
  • Availability of Xbox One gaming accessories.

According to the list above, we can conclude that the Xbox Series X scales with real power compared to the minor console version. Those who are fans of 4K resolution and breath-taking visuals will have to go with the more expensive console, even though 1440p is considered a decent resolution.

If you ask me personally, I tend to wait and see the comparison results by some viral YouTube channels whose job is to do such evaluations. But, if you have something to say regarding the specs and would love to let us know your choice, knock yourself out in the comments below.
