Xbox has revealed the next phase in its ever-evolving Game Pass offer. Xbox Game Pass Core, is set to launch on September 14th, 2023. This service signifies the transformation of Xbox Live Gold into a brand new, better offering designed to provide players with even more choice and value.
The creation of Xbox Game Pass Core comes from a continuous effort by Xbox to create a more integrated and robust gaming experience. For a monthly fee of USD 9.99 or an annual fee of USD 59.99, Game Pass Core members will have access to Xbox’s advanced multiplayer network and an exclusive selection of over 25 games to play with friends globally. This service will also include exclusive member deals and discounts.
Since its inception over twenty years ago, Xbox Live has been a hub for players to connect, compete, and enjoy many online multiplayer games. In 2017, Xbox expanded its services by introducing Xbox Game Pass, offering its subscribers a curated library of games. The newly announced Game Pass Core brings online play and Game Pass together, creating a unified service for gamers worldwide.
This new launch also ends Games with Gold, as Xbox seizes this opportunity to reimagine its subscription offerings and deliver a more compelling catalog. Xbox Game Pass Core will leverage select titles from the catalog, offering a diverse launch collection of over 25 games from Xbox Game Studios, Bethesda, and other content partners.
Confirmed titles for the launch include popular games like:
- Among Us
- Dishonored 2
- Doom Eternal
- Fallout 4
- Forza Horizon 4
- Halo 5: Guardians
- The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
The gaming roster is expected to expand 2-3 times a year, keeping the service fresh and engaging.
Current Xbox Live Gold members will automatically transition to Game Pass Core members on September 14, with no changes in pricing. They will instantly have access to the new library of high-quality games. Games with Gold will officially end on September 1, 2023. However, players will maintain access to any Xbox One games they previously redeemed through Games with Gold, given they remain Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate members. Any Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold in the past will be retained in a player’s library, regardless of their subscription status.
