Xbox is currently dealing with major outages impacting several online multiplayer features. Players have been experiencing trouble with party management, messaging, and game invites, which is frustrating for those trying to connect with friends or join games.
Xbox Support took to X earlier today to acknowledge that users are having issues creating or receiving party and game invites, as well as sending and receiving messages. The official Xbox Status page on Microsoft’s support site highlights five ongoing problems flagged as “major outages.”
First, Party Management is affected, meaning players might struggle to manage their active parties, including managing other party members. Then, messaging is hit in two ways: sending messages to others and viewing your inbox messages are both experiencing issues. And if you thought that was enough, game invites are also broken down into two problems: sending invites may fail, and even if sent, recipients might not get them or fail to join the game after accepting. Kinda annoying when you’re trying to get a quick game going, right?

Microsoft reported these issues around 9:30 am UK time and marked them as under investigation by 9:55 am UK time. No ETA has been given on when everything will be back to normal. It’s a bit of a climb for anyone relying on these features for social gaming sessions.
On the bright side, other online Xbox services like multiplayer matchmaking, cloud gaming, remote play, the Xbox Store, and save game backups are still working fine. So, at least you can still get some gaming done, even if party chats and invites are acting up.
