Raids to Watch For
During August, Virizion, Lugia, Ho-Oh, and Necrozma will be the stars of Tier 5 Raids at different times. Mega Raids will feature Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Ampharos, Mega Slowbro, Mega Pidgeot, and Mega Salamence throughout the month. Plus, Shadow Regirock will be haunting Shadow Raids on weekends — spooky! Max Battles and Max Mondays
Max Battles will feature different Pokémon rotating weekly, including:
- July 28 – August 3: Kabuto
- August 4 – August 10: Omanyte
- August 11 – August 17: Trubbish
- August 25 – August 31: Chansey
- September 1 – September 7: Pidove
Max Mondays will spotlight these same Pokémon from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time on specific Mondays in August and early September.
Spotlight Hours in August
From 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time on these days, catch these Pokémon with special bonuses:
- August 5: Swirlix (2× Catch Stardust)
- August 12: Plusle and Minun (2× Catch XP)
- August 19: Ralts (2× Catch Candy)
- August 26: Lechonk (2× Transfer Candy)
Event Previews
Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day
Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day will happen on Sunday, August 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During this event, all Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles, and they will refresh more often. If you’re lucky, you might meet a Shiny Butterfree that can Gigantamax!
Rookidee Community Day
Rookidee Community Day will take place on Saturday, August 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. If you evolve Corvisquire during the event, Corviknight will learn the exclusive charge attack Air Cutter, which is Flying-type.
Research Breakthrough Rewards
Complete Field Research to get encounters with these Pokémon as Research Breakthrough rewards from June 3 to September 2, 2025:

Season of Delightful Days
We’re in the second month of the Season of Delightful Days, which runs until September 2, 2025. It’s a great time to enjoy the various seasonal bonuses and events Niantic will be offering.
So, what’s your plan for August? Are you gonna chase that shiny Gigantamax Butterfree or focus on the Necrozma raids? I’m kinda torn myself, but I’ll definitely be out there trying to snag some of those max battles. Hmm…nope. Can’t wait to see what surprises Niantic might have sneaked in with that mysterious August 10 event. Will it be a new shiny? A special bonus? Only time will tell!
