Call of Duty: Warzone is experiencing an impressive surge in player numbers following the return of the classic map, Verdansk. Activision’s decision to reintroduce this favorite battleground has delighted fans and increased sales for Black Ops 6.
A trusted leaker within the Call of Duty scene revealed that both Activision and Raven Software are excited with the uptick in players, marking this update as a major success. The revitalized interest is intense just days after Verdansk was made available again, and it seems to have reignited enthusiasm for the game.
The Stakes Were High
Previously, there were whispers around the community about potential plans to phase out Warzone if its performance didn’t improve significantly with Verdansk’s return. Fans had high hopes for this rebooted map, reminiscent of Fortnite’s nostalgia-inducing throwbacks. With so much riding on this comeback, it’s clear that Activision had every reason to be anxious about how things would play out.
An insightful post from TheGhostofHope shared glowing praise for the numbers seen since launching Verdansk:”

This resurgence spells good news for those who cherish their time in this battle royale universe, which had previously dominated gaming discussions.
Many labeled the removal of Verdansk in December 2021 a blunder when Caldera—let’s call it what it was—didn’t exactly resonate well with players (my personal opinion might be slipping into view here). Now that we’ve got our hands on a refreshed version of Verdansk, one can only wonder if we might see more years ahead for Warzone under these positive conditions.
