Fatshark celebrated the tenth anniversary of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 with a free-to-keep weekend that converted 5.9 million new players into owners, pushing the game’s lifetime total to 25 million players.
“A decade on and players are still charging into Vermintide 2, that’s amazing to witness. At Fatshark, our goal has always been to make games that people love to play, and this weekend proved that the passion endures.” ~ Joakim Setterberg, Design Director for Vermintide
The studio pointed to ongoing support as the reason the numbers keep rising. Fatshark recently shipped the Return to the Reik mission and says more missions are coming, with a December event titled Gifts of the Wolf Father already on the calendar. Alongside the player milestone Fatshark asked the community to nominate Vermintide 2 for the Steam Awards Labor of Love category. Console PC Gaming has coverage of the game’s Steam Awards push in Vermintide 2 nominated for Labor of Love at Steam Awards.
For a live action metric, the Free-To-Keep weekend demonstrates how occasional promotions combined with steady free content can rapidly swell active libraries. Fatshark framed the milestone as validation that continuing to support the ten-year-old title remains worthwhile. Comments and reactions are welcome, join the conversation on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
