Vitality has clinched their place in the BLAST Bounty Season 2 LAN finals in Malta by overcoming Legacy in a 2-0 series. This victory serves as a form of payback for their earlier loss to Legacy at the Austin Major two months ago.
Joining Vitality at the Maltese LAN event, scheduled from August 14 to 17, are other strong contenders such as the Cologne champions Spirit, MOUZ, and Austin runners-up The MongolZ. A pretty competitive lineup, right?
Interestingly, the map Inferno was not part of this match. Legacy chose Mirage, a map where Vitality had previously lost to MOUZ just a week earlier. Legacy took an early lead by winning both pistol rounds and their conversions, maintaining control up to an 11-9 advantage. Yet, Vitality managed to claw back and eventually secured the map in overtime with a clean 4-0 run. Quite the comeback!
Dust2 was the second battleground. The first half ended evenly at 6-6, with Legacy showing resilience, particularly through impressive multi-kills by Bruno “latto” Rebelatto, including a notable quad-kill with the Five-SeveN. Legacy briefly retook the lead thanks to a 1v2 clutch by Guilherme “saadzin” Pacheco. But their momentum faltered when they failed to convert that advantage, allowing Vitality to take control and close out the map 13-8.
Vitality’s star players shined, with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut posting a standout 40-26 kill-death record and a rating of 1.41. Robin “ropz” Kool also impressed with a 38-28 record and 1.32 rating. Legacy’s Bruno “latto” Rebelatto put up solid numbers too, ending with 41 kills and a 1.19 rating, but it wasn’t enough.
