Virtua Fighter Makes a Comeback, as New Game Gets Revealed at The Game Awards

The first fresh Virtua Fighter title in over ten years just dropped at The Game Awards, and I can barely contain my excitement! Seriously, if you’ve ever felt that adrenaline rush from a perfectly timed combo or a nail-biting match, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for.

The reveal came straight from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the same folks behind the iconic Yakuza series. They hit us with a world premiere trailer that screamed, “Virtua Fighter is Back!” trust me, it gave me chills. It wrapped up with some gameplay snippets that left me wanting more, like when you finish an epic game but can’t shake off that craving for just one more round.

Check out the trailer right here:

This marks the first full release since Virtua Fighter 5, which was released way back in 2006. Can you believe it’s been that long? Time flies when you’re busy dodging punches and learning all those crazy combos! Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio also treated us to a remastered version of Virtua Fighter 5 titled Final Showdown in 2021 and has been working on a PC port called Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., expected to launch this year. And as if that wasn’t enough to keep us buzzing, they teased another project, Project Century, during the event, too!

You know what’s even better? SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku promised to spill more details later tonight at a Virtual Fighter Direct at midnight EST on December 13. But here’s the kicker: there’s already a link to a new project page on SEGA’s website, though it’s currently down.
