Ubisoft, the acclaimed developer, and publisher behind the popular Assassin’s Creed series, is reportedly planning an October 12, 2023 release for its next installment, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This information comes from respected dataminer and serial leaker j0nathan (via VGC), who recently shed light on this potential release date in a YouTube video.
The publisher initially targeted a late 2022 or early 2023 release for Mirage, but unexpected delays pushed back this timeline. The game has reportedly been delayed at least twice, but j0nathan suggests that the October date is now fixed internally.
However, fans should be prepared for potential shifts in the release schedule. According to j0nathan, the release date could change by a few weeks – though not beyond November 2023 – if it conflicts with the launch of another yet-to-be-announced major game.
Ubisoft confirmed Assassin’s Creed Mirage as the next installment in the series last September following a string of leaks. The game, set in 9th-century Baghdad, is described as a “special tribute to the first Assassin’s Creed”. This implies a return to the action-adventure focus of earlier Assassin’s Creed games, prior to the more expansive RPG-style entries such as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla.
Mirage is expected to emphasize the franchise’s original pillars: parkour, stealth, and assassinations, offering players a fresh exploration of the series’ roots. This anticipated return to form is likely to thrill long-term fans of the series, who have been clamoring for a return to the original gameplay style.
