Ubisoft may roll out 60 frames-per-second performance updates for older Assassin’s Creed games on PlayStation 5, with Assassin’s Creed Unity singled out as a likely first candidate. Insider Gaming leaker Tom Henderson discussed the plans during the outlet’s weekly podcast and pointed to Unity as an early target for a PS5 performance upgrade.
The publisher has already started adding 60FPS support to legacy Ubisoft titles on PS5. Earlier this week Ubisoft provided 60FPS updates for Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal, and coverage of the free 60FPS option for Far Cry 3 is available at Far Cry 3 60FPS update.
Ubisoft previously shipped 60FPS patches for entries in the Assassin’s Creed series as well. Assassin’s Creed Origins received a PS5 performance patch in 2022, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate got a similar update in 2024. Those changes were strictly performance options and did not alter core gameplay or mission design.
If Ubisoft extends 60FPS support to more legacy Assassin’s Creed titles, several older releases could be considered. Reported candidates include The Ezio Collection, Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, Assassin’s Creed Rogue Remastered, and Assassin’s Creed Unity. Separately, strong rumours persist that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is being handled as a full remake rather than a performance patch.
The claims come from a single Insider Gaming appearance and mirror Ubisoft’s recent pattern of adding performance modes to catalog titles on PlayStation 5. Specific plans, schedules, and which other Assassin’s Creed entries might receive updates have not been confirmed by Ubisoft.
