Ubisoft has just confirmed that a new first-person Ghost Recon game is in the works, and honestly, this news got me pretty hyped. The confirmation was made during a shareholder meeting, where Ubisoft’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, discussed the company’s focus on live-service games and mentioned Ghost Recon as a key upcoming launch. It’s cool to see Ubisoft doubling down on one of its iconic shooter franchises.

The details come from a report by Stephen Totilo’s Game File, where Guillemot highlighted Rainbow Six Siege’s success as an example of Ubisoft’s live service expertise. He said the company aims to keep improving its current experiences while pushing forward with launches like The Division and Ghost Recon. Ubisoft’s CFO Frederick Duguet also chimed in, explaining that Tencent’s investment will support the development of major brands, naming Ghost Recon as a prime example for their first-person shooter projects. He also mentioned plans to boost live games such as The Crew and For Honor.

For those who might not be fully caught up, we have previously reported that the next Ghost Recon will be the next mainline title in the series and will focus on realism more than anything else. It’s set during a fictional Naiman War and will be played in first person, drawing heavy inspiration from the Call of Duty: Current Warfare series.

The game is expected to enter internal alpha testing later this year, with a potential launch window around late 2026. That’s quite a wait, but considering Ubisoft’s track record, it might be worth it. The question is, are you excited to see how this new Ghost Recon will shape up? I know I am!
