Ubisoft Drops Tom Clancy Branding from XDefiant

It appears that XDefiant won’t be a Tom Clancy brand after all. After some recent insider information, Ubisoft indeed is dropping the Tom Clancy branding from the official title. Two days ago, Tom Henderson, a known leaker, revealed that the f2p multiplayer shooter would be removing the Tom Clancy branding.

XDefiant is also ready to boot up some new gameplay tests, which will be a part of the insider sessions program and will be available for a limited amount of eligible players on PC. To register for these Insider Sessions, as stated by Ubisoft, you can register on this link. Remember that the testing is protected by an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), so sharing anything related to the game might put you in trouble. The testing is eligible for the following regions and countries:

  • United States
  • Canada
  • United Kingdom
  • France
  • Poland
  • Greece

Ubisoft has also promised that the tests will continue to expand as they further polish the game. Last but not least, it seems that Ubisoft is trying really hard to make this a mainstream game and indulge in the market requirement responsibly and professionally. This would take a lot of effort, especially in satisfying all gamers ready to jump into this phenomenon.

Ubisoft seemingly ditching the "Tom Clancy" brand for XDefiant seems like a good choice.

By all the accounts I've heard, the game is trying "too hard" to be mainstream, but it'll be interesting to see if anything has changed these past several months. pic.twitter.com/XSWLtnFeHS

For those unaware, XDefiant is a 6v6 multiplayer shooter game. The first multiplayer shooter of this caliber developed by Ubisoft has close similarities with Valorant and Overwatch. Tom Clancy’s XDefiant will include different factions, classes, and abilities, including Ultimates.

All of the factions in this game are inspired and coming from previous games released in the Tom Clancy universe. The developer’s focus on XDefiant is to respond to some popular world-class shooters such as CoD, Overwatch, and Valorant. Being 6v6 could imply a more tactical approach rather than clash and slash title.
