Ubisoft Considers Extending XDefiant Closed Beta Due to Server Issues

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated multiplayer shooter, XDefiant, has faced a rocky start during its closed beta testing phase. Executive Producer Mark Rubin took to Twitter to apologize for players’ horrible server experience. He suggested that the company consider extending the closed beta period, which ends on April 23rd.

Oh, and if all goes well and the servers finally gain some stability then I think we should look at extending the Beta but I have to see what that would mean for team.

— Mark Rubin (@PixelsofMark) April 15, 2023

The XDefiant closed beta, which started recently, has been plagued with technical issues, especially on the PlayStation 5 platform. Frustrated players have had to restart their games to get into matches, while others faced problems with progression. Ubisoft has been working on updates to address these concerns and even went as far as unlocking all players’ content to make up for the progression hiccups.

The free-to-download 6v6 first-person shooter XDefiant has been created with disgruntled Call of Duty multiplayer fans in mind, incorporating features that the rival game has abandoned in recent years, such as a classic mini-map, map voting and retaining lobbies between games.

If Ubisoft does decide to extend the XDefiant closed beta, it will provide more time for the development team to address the server issues and deliver a smoother experience for players. This would also give gamers more opportunities to try the game and offer valuable feedback before its official launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
