Today, Netflix announced it has agreed with Ubisoft to make a live-action series for their best-selling franchise, Assassin’s Creed. Ubisoft Film & Television’s Jason Altman and Danielle Kreinik will serve as Executive Producers. Netflix also has the right to make different types of content about the franchise, including live-action, animated, and anime.
Jason Altman stated:
“For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise. We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe.”
Peter Friedlander, Vice President at Netflix Original Series, continued:
“We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for. From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”
This will surely be a big up for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, expanding it to different media types for a bigger appeal to the customers. In the meantime, Assassin’s Creed fans can wait for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla coming November 10th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Google Stadia, while the PS5 version will arrive on November 12th.
