Treyarch has shared details on two Japan-inspired multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, shown during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2025 broadcast. Toshin and Den are among 18 multiplayer battlegrounds heading into the game at launch, and their three-lane designs make them candidates for the Call of Duty League.
Toshin is set in a near-futuristic Tokyo, built around three well-defined lanes and a crashed subway train that bisects the map. It packs local color, with a cat cafe and a karaoke bar tucked into sightlines that will offer both long sightlines and tight fights. Small details, such as signage and street furniture, aim to enhance the setting while maintaining a clean flow for competitive play.
Den moves away from the city into a reimagined ancient castle, now converted into a high-tech facility. The outer lanes open up opportunities for wall jumping, while the central areas tighten into close-quarters combat, pushing players into faster exchanges and harder reads on opponent movement.
“For the first time in franchise history, Black Ops takes players deep into Japan, not just as a backdrop, but as a major region woven across the entire experience,” said Miles Leslie, Associate Creative Director at Treyarch.

With Treyarch sticking to its tried-and-tested three-lane map philosophy, Toshin and Den follow a design pattern that has worked in past competitive seasons. Several pro players were invited into Treyarch’s studios to test Black Ops 7 ahead of the beta weekend, giving them time to feed back on flow, sightlines, and movement tools.
These maps matter most to players who care about map flow and competitive balance, as they maintain the three-lane rhythm while incorporating vertical and wall movement that should alter engagements. Share thoughts in the comments, and follow us on both X and Bluesky.
